Your favorite DAW in its new flavor turns 3 and I think you will love it.
And yes there is a mac version as always, and we won’t stop here.You will see some nice new features and I think at the negative side some of you may be disappointed that we didn’t have integrated some of the latest mac only features. There won’t be AU support yet with this version and I’m glad that we didn’t. I’m currently fighting enough with our Sampler to get it working with the different AU hosts out there. And I have to say that it is not a lovely job at the moment. The major AU host is so bad in regards of supporting standards that everyone would kill me if I would drop support for it because of this. This experience let me think that it is too early to support AU in our host. I’ve heard that version 7 of the major AU host will be supporting the standard and I think if that version will settle we can start to bring our AU implementation to the end so that every one will be happy. (And maybe we will have the killer for AU then )
Even support for the Audio Midi Setup is not in this release even tho it is mostly ready and I think it will come early next year.
But we have optimizations for the G5 in it and some optimizations for the graphics. More will follow next year.
But there are so cool new stuff inside that most of you will be very surprised. My little favorite is the inplace midi editing. You can now edit midi in the arrange window. I love it (thanks Klaus). Sample warp is something I personally won’t use much but for people doing much loop music will be pleased with it. And finally there will be some kind of Mixer Maps like in the old VST days, but I think much better. But I hope you will see it youself. It is worse its price.
